Review: English Vinglish (Part 3)

(And today I want to continue reviewing and commenting this movie, thanks for reading ! ^^)

Not everyone knows the meaning of a "good wife " In this movie, Shashi's husband, Satish show us the way a husband think about having a good wife. Satish character reflects the way husband think about their wife these days. Despite having a modern and employed wife, he prefers to marry Shashi because he thinks she can cook well and can raise their children as she is a housewife. Other than that, he thinks that Shashi is a very traditional woman and does not suit with the modern life. Because of that, he never teaches Shashi to learn English.

Next, Satish also did not respect his wife decision. When Shashi wants to develop her business, he rejects her decision and said that she can only cook to him, and ask her to stop making ladoos to sell. Sometimes, he offended her when Sapna and Sagar is being mean towards her..

Hindi Movie Review: English Vinglish (Part 2)

(This is part of my English assignment, Credits to my lecturer and my tutorial friends)

On these modern days, the ability to speak multiple language is one of the most valuable talent that one must have to create a better communication between other culture, races and countries. The director English Vinglish, Gauri Shinde want to show us on how  English is wrongly used by non-English spoken these days. Most of them is only want to show-off and to make other people respect them. The movie opens our mind on why we should not fool others that does not have the ability to use multiple languages.

Because of her poor command in English, Shashi, a traditional housewife is always being ridiculed by her husband and her daughter, Sapna. There was a day when her daughter scolds her because she talk Hindi to her English teacher. This causes major impact on Shashi's emotions and causing her to have a mild depression. Until a day her sister, Manu invited her to help in the preparation of her niece wedding, this gives her the opportunity to learn the international language at an English class secretly without the knowledge of her family. So this is the turning point for Shashi to improve her life.

As for the main character, Shashi which shows her determination to continue and finish on anything that she do. This distinct character can be seen when she still want to attend the English class despite her family wants   to spent time with her in the city of New York.

Other than that, Shashi's ability to learn fast that shown shes a very diligent and a bright woman. I was amazed on how strong her memories are when she remembered the phone number of the English Class from a moving bus and the place where she kept her daughters important things.Shes also a fast learner back in her English Class.

In conclusion, this movie is a must-watch for everyone. A lesson that can be learnt is to realized that everyone have their own advantages but we can always improve ourselves from what we did wrong. Other than that, we must appreaciate our mother that gives us birth and raise us since

Bollywood Movies of The Year: English Vinglish (Part One)

Bollywood industries is one of the biggest entertainment industry these days, since early 60's. Bollywood is formally referred as Hindi Cinema, which referred as a film industry based on Mumbai, India. Since late 90's, movies such as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) and Satya (1998) being one of the most succesful movies. As Bollywood increased its popularity on early 2000, Malaysia is one of the country that is aware of Bollywood popularity and during that period, I can see that most Malaysians are very influenced by the Bollywood movies, Dialogues, and Songs from popular movies such as Lagaan (2001), Devdas (2002), Koi... Mil Gaya (2003), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003).

I was one of the big fans of Bollywood at that time. I even dance a Bollywood song when I was 8 during a Gifting Ceremony for excellent students back in my elementary school XD (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai- Badi Anjaani Hai) Here is the link of the song .

I dont remember much popular movies since 2007 because I was focusing on other things at that time. I do remember Om Shanti Om (2007) and Ghajini (2008), but since that I dont even know other movies until I watched 3 Idiots (2009), one of the most succesful Hindi Movies at that time.( I watched the movie on 2012 after I finished my school). This movie really give me a hint that not every Bollywood movies are focused about modern love between two person. (Sincerely I don't favor that sweet-romantic movies after when reach 15) This story is about the life of students in an engineering college give me inspiration to be more hardworking and more sophisticated in what I want to achieve in my life.

And another movie just caught my attention this year. English Vinglish which was launched on 14th June 2012 in YouTube. This movie is mainly about a housewife named Shashi Godbole starred by Sridevi (a legendary Bollywood actor which makes her comeback after 15 years in Hindi Film industry) who is being ridiculed by her family because of her poor English. As she got a chance to fly to New York to help her sister's daughter wedding, She takes the opportunity to learn English secretly in a small tuition class without the knowledge of her family. Here is one of the official trailer of the movie.
